Spring is a great time for interior design enthusiasts, giving homeowners a good excuse to add colour to their walls and brighten up their furnishings. And what better shade to choose than Pantone’s Colour Of The Year 2022 – Very Peri.
The purple-blue tone was picked as the paint of choice for this year for its warm and energetic undertones of red and refreshing hues of indigo.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive direct of the Pantone Color Institute, said: “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
A considerable amount of thought and consideration is put into creating Pantone’s Colour of the Year, with Laurie Pressman, vice president of the institute, adding that colour is used as a “way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect”.
This year’s shade is a particularly good choice for spring, as it gives homeowners the chance to brighten up their walls, interiors, cupboards or furnishings in time for the warmer seasons.
In contrast to this year’s choice, Pantone’s Colour of The Year 2021 was Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. The juxtaposition of classic grey with bright yellow was deemed the best way to express the mood of last year.
“Conveying a message of subtle strength and hopefulness, a marriage of colour that is both enduring and uplifting,” a spokesperson for the brand stated, adding the pairing is “practical and rock solid but, at the same time, warming and optimistic, the union… is one of strength and positivity”.
