Although the much-hyped new Barbie movie, starring Margo Robbie and Ryan Gosling, isn’t slated for release until next year, it seems that its influence is already being felt in the fashion world… and beyond!

Fashion and interior design have always been closely linked and you can often see correlations between the two, with what’s seen on the catwalk filtering down into our homes in various forms or other.

With the Barbiecore trend, it’s inevitable that this means an awful lot of pink – and it’s certainly not about being shy with the colour. If you’ve been longing for some inspiration to create big, bold interiors and really play around with colour palettes, this could be the trend for you!

Colourful and vibrant interiors can bring an awful lot of joy and you could have a huge amount of fun trying out new shades and mixing and matching with different patterns, textures and materials.

There’s a heavy focus on a retro aesthetic and a lot of kitsch touches here and there, so look to the 80s and 90s for ideas and inspiration, putting nostalgia at the heart of your design schemes.

However, while hot pink is an amazing colour choice, if not used wisely it can become rather overwhelming. The key to success when using this intense shade is to layer it up with different hues, which will create a warm and lively space that you’re sure to love for years to come.

Also consider throwing in other bright shades to complement the pink, everything from purples and yellows to dazzling blues and turquoise.
